Music is taught by combining two different music teaching styles, Orff and Kodaly. Orff emphasizes instrument playing, and Kodaly emphasizes singing. The end result of each being that students learn about music. The children learn everything from folk dances to singing games to hand clapping patterns. We use different styles of music including jazz, patriotic, calypso and Zimbabwe.
Music class at Field is full of movement and participation because children learn best when they are involved. Throughout the year we have various grade levels give evening performances for their parents. Program dates are on our school calendar.
Adventures in the Arts is a unique opportunity for all elementary students in Littleton schools to attend a high school student performance in either drama or music. The high school students enjoy and look forward to entertaining the younger students. In the music area, students will hear either a choral singing group, band or orchestra. The fifth grade hears all three groups so that they may make the right choice for the next year in music in the sixth grade.
